Scan and Coring Works for Piping

In a recent project for a restaurant located within a condominium, the client needed to core through the concrete for piping installation.

The problem was the potential presence of post-tension cables in the area, which could be damaged during coring. To ensure safety and avoid costly damage to critical reinforcement, the client reached out to Xradar™ for precise concrete scanning.

Xradar™ used advanced concrete scanning technology to scan 7 specific points in the designated areas before coring. Our team employed Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), a non-destructive testing method, to map the internal structure and locate any post-tension cables or other embedded utilities that could pose a risk. The scanning revealed critical data, allowing us to confirm the exact location of reinforcements and other potential obstacles, ensuring that no critical elements would be affected during the coring process.

Once the scanning was completed, our trusted partner, Sonicon Construction, proceeded with the coring operation safely and precisely, avoiding any damage to the reinforcement. The project was completed without incident, and the piping installation went forward as planned.
